Pierre Courthion:
1984: ..."Bottinelli a un sens du jet, de l'enlacement, de la juxtaposition de surfaces différenciées. C'est ainsi que s'annonce pour moi ie caractère de la peinture bottinellienne. Ici, l'artiste se montre un subtil tachiste. La, il étale au crayon de couleur un jaune d'or vieux. Puis il se resserre dans une géométrisation aux tons rompus. Parti d'une figuration anthropomorphe vivement colorée, au dessin accentué, Bottinelli parvient a rythmer ses touches morcelées de blancs, de bleus, de rouges en une entrainante melée. L'art de Bottinelli s'enrubanne en des huiles, des gouaches, des lithographies, des tapisseries qui font penser a de sarabandes et sont les signes d'une évidente personnalité."

• René Bütler ist 1923 in Bern geboren.
• Nebst anderen Aktivitäten (u.a. Professur an der medizinischen Fakultät der Universität Bern) künstlerische Tätigkeit seit den frühen 50er Jahren.
• Als Maler Experimente mit verschiedenen Techniken, zunächst im figurativen Stil (Landschaften, Stilleben u.a.).
• Um ca. 1970 Hinwendung zur Abstraktion mit zunehmen der Neigung zur informellen Malerei.
• Autor des religionsphilosophischen Werks, erschienen im Barth Verlag, München 1992 (Originalausgabe), im Verlag der Deutschen wissenschaftlichen Buch- Gesellschaft, Darmstadt 1992 (Sonderausgabe) und im Wilhelm Heyne Verlag, München 1995 (Taschenbuchausgabe) sowie in bulgarischer Sprache im Gutoranov Verlag, Sofia 1995.
• Aufenthalte in Berlin, München, Mailand, Wien, Paris, London, New York, San Francisco.
